This Year's Event |
In the past, the WG100 has benefitted the American Heart Association. Over the past year, the local board of the AHA dissolved. A group of interested citizens has decided to carry on with our cycling event, and to make the beneficiary a local cycling facility. Many thanks to the AHA for the groundwork establishing the WG100, and especially to Beverly Fulford and Sharon Stanford, whose dedication and hardwork was often overlooked and underappreciated. The Carrollton Greenbelt Project will finally see groundbreaking in the summer of 2008. See also this [map]. It is a 15 mile multi-purpose trail circling Carrollton, GA. It is being funded at the state and federal level, and our event shall further supplement and publicize the facility. Your support is appreciated. All donations gratefully accepted. The West Georgia 100 is one of the best all around century rides in the South. Constantly rolling terrain makes for a moderate challenge for experienced cyclists, but the scenery and roads are fantastic. The WG100 is a great preparatory ride for the Bicycle Ride Across Georgia (BRAG). Many of the same local people and sponsors are still involved, so participants can expect the same great support, same organization and attention to detail to which they have become accustomed. After all, it aint called Southern Hospitality for nothing ! |
